Dear Mr. Hoover,
In regard to your inquiry about differences between
SunOS 4.1.1 Rev A and Rev B, differences between
the two operating systems are extremely minimal.
Basically, the operating system between the two versions
are the same. No bugfixes, patches, or the like were
incorporated in 4.1.1 Rev B.
The main change in Rev B can be seen on pre-installed
systems that come from the factory. Automatic scripts
are run when one powers on a pre-installed system. These
automatic scripts allow easy configurations of systems
that are to be added to the network. These scripts ask
the user if the machine is connected to the internet, what
IP address will the machine use, what NIS domain does it
belong to, and the like.
Files like the rc files in /etc, were changed to make them
a little more verbose on bootup.
For a detailed list of what files were changed in Rev B, you can
take a look at the file /etc/install/chaged_in_revb.
