Boot -r and Format stalls. I/O errors?
external Seagate drive. I shutdown the system and placed another hard
drive into the external case to test to see if this new hard drive was
working. scsi-probe-all picked up the drive but it stalled when I did a
boot -r. I just assumed the new hard drive was faulty. So I shutdown,
replaced it with my original drive and did a boot -r. It configured the
devices okay but complained because it couldn't find /dev/dsk/c1t3d0s7
when it booted so I took it out of /etc/vfstab. I'm assuming that it
assigned it a different device address.
After messing around with it. Here is what is happening.
probe-scsi (doesn't detect the external drive)
probe-scsi-all (does)
boot -r stalls for 20+ minutes. It gives 2 WARNINGs similar to this.

and then boots okay.
When I type format I get this after about 20+ minutes:

I have got the drive to mount once by doing it manually. It listed the
top-level directories with "I/O error" beside each one and I could not
traverse any of them.
All the other times I tried to mount them, I get
mount:Interrupted system call
mount:cannot mount /dev/dsk/c1t4d0s0A
This drive was working before I took it out. I'm in dire need of help
because it contains the home directories.
I will summarize.
Any info or docs you can point me to would be great.
Thanks in advance.
